Yesterday
I have much to write about, and not a lot of time. For I must get back to Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince.
The purpose of this entry is to keep all the people interested in my dull life updated with what's been happening. I wouldn't have gone through the time and trouble of posting this entry but for them. They seem to be more interested in my life than I am, and as a result seem to flock to this blog in large numbers. I would hate to see them leave disappointed. And therefore, I write.
Not much has happened since I last posted. Yesterday was fun. I went to VM. For the uninitiated, VM is an abbreviation for VidyaMandir, as in VidyaMandir Classes. VM is located in West Punjabi Bagh, and it is a place where students are taught Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to help them prepare for the JEE, or the Joint Entrance Examination. The JEE, as all of you would probably be knowing, is the test one has to take to get into one of the seven IITs spread across the country. I used to study at VM for a period of two years, and I usually make it a point to go there at the beginning of every set of vacations, to see how things are getting along there. However, during these summer chhutis, every time me and my friends used to schedule a trip to VM, something or the other came up at the last moment, and we had to postpone the visit every time. Yesterday, however, me and three of my friends, who also studied in the same batch at VM as me, managed to finally realize our plans to drop in on the VM bhaiyyas (that's what we call our teachers at VM) at about 10:00 AM.
We spent quite a bit of time there. We met with a few of the bhaiyyas, and exchanged views with them on subjects ranging from ragging at IITD to recent movies. It was, as always, a pleasure to be at VM, and it was only at about lunch-time that we left the place.
The question that the four of us faced then was, in true H2G2 fashion, where to have lunch. In the absence of a better alternative, we settled for a McDonald's outlet. Then we decided to watch a movie, and once again, in the absence of a better alternative, had to settle for a movie called Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. I shall write more about it when I write a detailed post on the movies I have watched this week, so look out for a review then. Till then, all I would like to say is that if you have decided to go catch the movie sometime, you would do well to reconsider your decision.
That about wraps up the boring part of this entry, and I now move on to more interesting, although very slightly more interesting, things.
But before that, allow me to digress a little. I know I am straying from the task at hand, but I would like very much, at this point, to introduce a friend of mine. I have known him for quite some time now, but very surprisingly, he never quite got around to being mentioned on this blog. All that is about to change.
Rishi Kant, as this particular friend of mine is called, is a from the same school as me. He was in the same section as I was in classes XI and XII. After school, he, like me, made the awful mistake of deciding to pursue engineering, and as a result, is almost as sexually and mentally frustrated as me, and indeed most of the other engineering students of our country. He studies (I am not quite sure if the word 'studies' can do full justice to what I am trying to convey here, but whatever) at the Delhi College of Engineering, also known as DCE.
Besides that, Rishi is one of the best players of cricket I have had the fortune to meet, and one of the worst drivers I have been unlucky enough to travel with. He wears specs, has extraordinarily big teeth and an almost perfectly elliptical head. He is also in the habit of addressing people as 'Pandu' , and incessantly muttering obscenties when he has nothing better to do, which is always. Rishi used to, until a day back, stay at Green Park, and since Green Park is, geographically speaking, quite close to AIIMS Campus, I used to, until a day back, visit him quite frequently. He had therefore, over a period of the last 3-4 years, become a rather good, if somewhat eccentric, friend.
To put it in a nutshell, Rishi is an utter ass, and as a result, is extremely interesting company. Keeping a straight face is next to impossible when he is around. The sad thing is, he won't be around very often now.
Rishi left for the US yesterday. His dad got a very cool job there, and as a result his entire family has shifted to New Jersey. He will, very probably, come back sometime soon, but it is unlikely that he'll stay for a long time. He has applied for a transfer to a few US universities, and, being the person he is, he very probably will get one. He will, therefore, in all probability, spend the rest of his life driving fast cars (not very well, I might add), minting money, and pataoing hot, white chicks. In short, he'll be doing all the things I would love to do but would probably never get a chance to because I'm stuck at stupid IIT. Sad. Quite sad.
Anyway, what I am trying to say, perhaps not very successfully, for I never am at my articulate best when talking about such stuff, is that Rishi was a nice guy to have around. And while I might not exactly be devastatingly depressed and miserable because of his departure, I will go as far as to say that he will be missed. Rishi, dude, if you're reading this, keep in mind that coming from me, that's a lot. I don't usually say things like that.
Well, that done, I shall get back to Harry Potter.

Is it true that Snape kills Dumbeldore in this book?
Which makes snape the half blood prince, right?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May you be damned from the depth of hell by lucifer himself!!!!! (If this is true)
Three things I'd like to clarify:
1. In my 7 month old driving life, only on one occasion have I ever bumped my car. Lemme recount what happened
Rishi(With Manu, trying to reverse car from parking): "Kaatloon?"
Manu(with absolute conviction): "Haan haan, kaatle kaatle!!"
Rishi kaatoes
BUMP!!!
Rishi: "Oye **********!"
Manu(now quite worried):"Yaar sorrie woh car nahi dikhi. Kuchh toota toh nahin??"
2. You don't know which gear ure on even after looking down at the gearbox.
3. So long and thanks for all the fish. I'm touched.
i've got a lot to say on this mainly bcoz i've spent, if not more,as much time with rishi as manu has.
for lesser imp things to start off with even i would start reading hp tom onwards. anywayz, manu. 4 ur kind info, i think the diff b/w VM and other places is that they don't just teach phys, chem n math. it means a lot more than just learning the subjects to be in VM. i think all VM guys will agree with that. those who don't never deserved to be in VM.
by the way, rishi has been a good friend of mine for the past 4 yrs and i assure u that rishi is a much better driver than manu is. at least this was true in jan this year n i was present during the incedent that rishi has so vividly described. but yes manu, u r right about rishi looking like a "pandu", in ketan's terminology, but i'm sure he'll improve once he gets to the States.
manu , terribly sorry to waste commenting space over a matter that should ideally be ignored , but then , do allow me to just get it over with :
saurabh , do the world a favour and stick your head in a turkey. it appears that you do , in fact , think that manu is the king of blogging , as is apparent from your sycophancy and demand for a link to your ..uh..blog. converting your secret thought to an insult and accusing manu of it makes you look , if possible , even dumber. also , it is evident to me that it is not my posterior you have been staring at . i would prefer it to stay that way . thank you and have a nice life.
After reading this entry I have couple of things on my mind:
Firstly, how in heavens can anyone abandon HP to write a blog entry?
Secondly, West Punjabi Bagh??
As far as I am aware, Punjabi Bagh is located in West Delhi. And to divide the poor place into east, west, north n south would really not help.
Thirdly, aren't there only 3 bhaiyas teaching at VMC?
That's it for now I think.
PS. HP6 rocks!! I think it's the best book come out so far in the series.
Papadas, if you really want to know, I bought the book for Rs. 672, it is a very good book, and no, you cannot borrow my copy. Keeping in mind that I don't even know who you are, I am sure you would agree that that's pretty reasonable.
Mu ha ha ha ha, I feel very glad that I had read the book before I read your comment. Nevertheless, I would like to let you know that you are a sick sadistic bastard.
Anonymous, it's true.
Rishi, that was an absolutely hilarious, even if somewhat factually inaccurate, comment. I am reading it for the third time now, and I still can't help laughing out loud.
Ménk, I completely agree with you on VM. Classes there weren't merely classes, they were experiences. Much of what we guys are today, academically and otherwise, is because of our times there.
And Ménk, considering the fact that you haven't even seen me drive a vehicle as yet, I find you passing judgement on my driving skills rather surprising.
Anya, calm down. Saurabh, very evidently, does not possess the mental or verbal faculties required to piece together convincing retorts to your tireless tirades. Under the given circumstances, I would like to request you to let the poor guy be.
Akanksha, I totally agree with you. The 6th book is, undoubtedly, an excellent read.
As far as Punjabi Bagh is concerned, weird though it might seem, the place is indeed divided into two parts. One is called East Punjabi Bagh, and the other, not surprisingly, is called West Punjabi Bagh.
And VM doesn't have just three bhaiyyas. VM has lots of bhaiyyas. Some of them organize classes, some of them take lectures, and some of them serve water. All of them are awesome people to know, and all of them teach the students there something or the other, not necessarily related to Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics.
So Manu My dear friend...you wont fedex it to me then?? :( ??

oh trust me manu, im not "poor".no1 needs to "let me be" ! i just realised what an arrogant peice of shit you r. and, might i add, a chicken. and a bit silly for getting defensive about aishwarya rai. learn to tolerate differentiating opinions. not every1 is a retard like you. and im very well equipped with "verbal faculties". 88 in 301 would, quite simply, justify that. and u jackass, stop distributing gyaan and acting like mr "know it all" all the time. punjabi bagh has infact many divisions, apart from east and west punjabi bagh. namely bhagwan das nagar, shivaji park and even a punjabi bagh extension ! and maybe U were the 1 who didnt have the "verbal faculties" to speak infront of mrs. chona, president students' council?..thats just charity for the class x delhi topper ! my heart felt condolences.
a piece of advise, drop the attitude. ull get plenty ass kicking in life otherwise.
anya, u r making it personal, and id gladly continue this. but i dont wish to use the comments pop up window inorder to do that. saurabhchandan@gmail.com, and dont chicken out like this retard here.
hate to make it personal, seriously wasnt looking for a fight. i honestly thought, and still think, manu writes well, so does tushar, bhavya etc etc. some 1 million blogs out there. and u guys are non entities in the world of blogging. and the unnecessary overconfidence does no good.
also, manu, rishi isnt going to be pataofying women there, he knows better than to do that. also, he isnt a tharki like u! now is that word in ur vocabulary? HAHAHAHAHA
peace all.
hey s\dude saurabh, take a chill pill man.If you dont like his concietedness then get your ass outta here cause thats his style of writing...beats me why you still continue to visit ere and make an ass of your self and take everything so personally .....jeesus its the interNET...let go dude get a life!!!
Now Im going to take some of my own advice and get the hell outta ere..
Regards...
PAPA
saurabh , dear , do let it pass . nobody is trying to make it personal. im sure youre a very nice chap in theory . thank you for your email address , which i have no intention of doing anything with beyond giving it the customary read through . i would also advise ( kindly note the usage of 'advise' , it is not to be used in the reckless manner you have used it ) you to grow up just a tad bit. i really do mean this in the nicest possible way and out of genuine concern for your present/future family , friends , employers , employees , and yes , even yourself . that being said , why dont we both just call it quits and enjoy the blog .
manu , i assure you i am perfectly calm , thank you . :)
very well then anya,
i think on similar lines, that u 2 wud be a gem of a person in theory. do not be concerned about ppl in my life, that are, my friends, family, employees, employers etc etc. None of them is as retarded as you are. I feel, for having to respond to ur rubbish, i need to revisit this blog, which i assure u, i dont intend to do nemore. So ya, lets call it quits.
Regards,
Saurabh Praveen Chandan

Do I get to borrow your copy of the book?
Which reminds me, I still have your copy of Eats, Shoots and Leaves; which incidentally I have not started reading. In fact, (and I am really sad about this fact, hence the mention) I have not read anything in these three months that have just gone by.
Saurabh, when you first came to my blog, I distinctly remember you asking me for advice. I didn't give you much then, but over the past week or so, I've been saving a lot to hand over to you at the opportune moment. I find that opportune moment to have arrived. I sincerely hope you are as keen to receive my advice now as you were then. Especially keeping in mind that you need it now more than ever.
1. Never call me a coward again. It's untrue, and it pisses me off. And that's never a good sign. Besides that, you are free to call me anything. Especially arrogant. I daresay I am.
2. Try to be things other than a spineless sycophant or a touchy, foul-mouthed bitch. None of them suit you too much. Follow this particular piece of advice and you'll find yourself feeling much, much better.
3. Try to come up with better retorts when people insult you, and learn to admit defeat when you've been outclassed in a verbal battle. Throwing online tantrums while commenting and abusing people left right and centre when you don't get your way doesn't solve anything. And it does tend to look rather immature.
4. Try and be yourself for a change. I can see from your blog posts and your comments that you're desperately trying to be someone you're not. Whatever you're trying, believe me, it won't work.
5. Do try and get a life. I think you urgently need one.
Don't take this the wrong way. Do try to follow what I say. I hope it'll do you some good.
Thank you, and a very good day.
Papadas, I will make it a point to. Ask Bade Bhaiyya, that is.
Aidoneus, of course you can have my copy of the book. And the copy of Eats, Shoots and Leaves I lent you wasn't mine, so I would appreciate it very much if you would not advertise the fact that I lent it to you.
TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN
1. I don't mind the hot, white chicks. I'm sure most of us wouldn't.
2. I would love to drive automatic, fast cars too. I'm sure most of us would.
3. Just out of curiosity, what is 88 in 301?
4. Just out of more curiosity, what verbal faculties did Manu not have to speak infront of Mrs. Chona?
That copy of Eats, Shoots and Leaves is mine. I'd like it back now. Thanks.
You'll get it as soon as it gets back from Bangalore.
You're welcome.
Uh, is this the moment I go oops.
Anyway, the copy is in Delhi, safely tucked away in my room ghar par. So, you should get it back as soon as I get back to Delhi + one week (please !)
Hey Skaranses, I d like to reead Eats Shoots and Leaves
Saurabh, though i dont know but i would like to point out a couple of things
1) Your Blog needs a Revamp
2) Advertising that you got 88 in 301 isnt advisable. Everyone knows that there are always cases of jackasses getting obscene marks in english. You sure this isnt true about you ?
3) Are you Laughing at your own jokes ?!??! Gasp!
hmm...that's some tribute to rishi :P though u 'do' take ur time 2describe him like an alien find..elliptical head, glasses teeth..hmm...sexually frustrated alien..
..i think 'hot white chicks' definitely implies 'frustrated' for you..though i wonder if u heard d lil thing abt nishad
Best o' luck rishi
