I Love to Sing-a

I just sat through an entire MEL 140 written quiz, and that's precisely what I did. Sit through it. So, if the teacher likes me, she'll give me a half mark here or there, but if not, I am going to get, to put it quite bluntly, a zook.

To see a photo of
Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz, member of the Galactic Hyperspace Planning Council, and terrible poet, who has found mention quite a few times in the comments section of my previous two blog posts, click on Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz.

When I was a kid, up till about 2-3 years back, Cartoon Network (my favorite channel, till very recently) used to run this segment called 'Shake Yer Tail-feathers' between shows, which featured songs featuring cartoons. It was during one of these 'Shake Yer Tail-feathers' that I first saw I Love To Sing-a by Owl Jolson (feat. Prof. Fritz Owl, Mama Owl, and Jack Bunny). Needless to say, I fell in love with it, and sang it all day long, much to the dismay of my family and friends. Over time, I forgot most of the lyrics. It was only yesterday that I performed a google search for them, and here's how the song goes.

I Love To Sing-a

I love to sing-a
About the moon-a and the June-a and the spring-a,
I love to sing-a,
About a sky of blue-a, or a tea for two-a,
Anything-a with a swing-a to an "I love you-a,"
I love to, I love to sing!

Give me a song-a

About a son-a gun that went and done her wrong-a.
But keep it clean-a,
With a cottage small-a by a waterfall-a,
Any sob-a that will throb-a to a bluebird's call-a,
I love, I love to sing!

I was born a singin' fool-a,

Lah-de-dah!
Ol' Major Bowes is gonna spot me,
Got through Yale with boula-boula,
Lah-de-dah!
Old microphone's got me!

I love to sing-a,

I love to wake up with the south-a in my mouth-a,
And wave a flag-a,
With a cheer for Uncle Sammy and another for my mammy,
I love to sing!

The swingin'est,

Hot singin'est,
Bell-ringin'est,
Song singin'est
High tootin'est,
Sky tootin'est,
I love to sing!

Try to get hold of the video. It's absolutely wonderful.
And a very goodnight to all.

You don't often have 17 year olds saying "Those were the days", but SYT was the reason I watched Cartoon Network.

I watched Cartoon Network practically all day long till about 3-4 years back. I used to religiously watch at least 6-7 programs. It's a real pity that Cartoon Network, as a channel, is no longer as interesting and fun as it used to be till about a couple of years ago.

One of my favourite cartoon network songs....along with the powerpuff girls title song and another song from powerpuff girls. here's the lyrics for the title song.

title song:
-----------
Powerpuff
Powerpuff
Blossom, commander and the leaedr
Bubbles, she is the joy and the laughter
Buttercup, and she's the toughest fighter
Powerpuffs save the day

chorus:
Fighting crime
Trying to save the world
Here they come just in time
The Powerpuff Girls

repeat chorus

Oh no, it's
the mad Fuzzy Lumpkins
Watch out
it's the repulsive Roach Coach
Get him
it's evil Mojo Jojo
Chasing evil out this town

repeat chorus (x2)

And they'll be...

repeat chorus (x3)

Gulzar's "jungle jungle baat chali hai pata chala hai, chaddi pehan ke phool khila hai.." was also a claasic.

Though an improvement over MS's blog, a more imaginative name is expected from you.

He's a sliiim pig
A very slim pig...

That's all I remember of that song. And the Flintstones song was a cartoon version of 'When the Saints come marching in.'

About the blog name. I am currently reading Crime and Punishment. I have a 1980 copy of the book. It belongs to my dad, and this is what he has written on the inner side of the front cover.
